I had to go straight to the counter and ask who it was. Once I perused the tracks I new that this was my sort of music. Playing it now as I type and I am so far am impressed.... like his compilation and sweet sounds. Glad I walked in to Virgin when I did!!! When I first put the CD in my player and heard Jamiroquai's 'Cosmic Girl', I immediately thought "Oh no! This is going to be a present day, pumped up house compilation ala Ministry of Sound." How wrong I was!!! I've heard Dimitri's first visit to the Playboy Mansion and now his return and if I was asked to compare the two, I'd say his second visit is much better! The first of the two CD's is mainly stylish disco music that has a nice mix of young and old. It's great to hear a mix of old tunes such as Marvin Gaye&Tammi Terell's classic 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' with newer jazz music such as Mario Biondi's 'This Is What You Are.' The second CD is very much "get down" music which includes tracks from artists such as Barry White, Jean Carn, Melba Moore, Amii Stewart and Marvin Gaye's classic 'I Want You.' I'm not sure if there are any other DJ's out there who could do a remix of this nature and quality besides Dimitri From Paris. You can feel his personality in the music from the eclectic mix of young and old which is typical of his style. Overall, I would say that this compilation is better than his first visit to the Playboy Mansion and it's a welcome change from the high tempo, pumped up, dance music that is popular in this day and age. Gary Lewis and the Playboys were one of my favorite groups and to have all the hits on CD just brings me back to those carefree days! Having heard many hits on the oldies station, I was glad to see this album come up on sale. It is an inexpensive way to collect some of the music from before "my time" of buying current radio play. The quality of the sound is good. The songs from that era were quite short, so the album is over before you know it. I think they could have put a few more songs on it. However, so many of the songs are hits you will enjoy, that it is a bargain. It is hard to justify buying an entire album for one or two songs, but I am glad to have all the songs on this one. Well this is what I really expected. Not saying it's bad, or good, but just too much lightweight for my blood. "This Diamond Ring" well it's been overplayed, but still a good song, and even though Al Kooper didn't have Gary in mind when writing it it's still a good version anyway. However, there's some real trash on here, and "Count Me In" is at the top of the heap, and that's not good, "Clown" is next, "Sure Going To Miss Her", and "Green Grass". However, "Sealed With A Kiss" was not a good version either. However, it's not a good song anyway, but to put strings on it; that made it worse. Now for some other good stuff "My Heart's Story" is really good unfortunately, I only had a 30 second sample of the song, and then there's the song I heard on AM radio in Honolulu, HI., and it made me feel so cool in the convertible at age 23, and that's "She's Just My Style". That is a song that even if it was released a year later in 1967 I think it would still be excellent. I can just easily say that Gary had his father's influence, and power for getting into show business, but I'm not going to. Gary as far as I'm concerned has the talent to make it on his own, and he's proven it by his comeback in 1985, and still going today, but I just wished he would rock it up a little more, and see what the other side of "She's Just My Style" could be like. As a newcomer to the world of Gary Lewis and the Playboys (an Eighties child am I), I must say that this music has really grown on me. My father bought me this album about a year ago, because I had the song "Everybody Loves a Clown" stuck in my head (and that's the kind of guy he is). Needless to say, it was a fantastic gift, and I still pop this collection in my CD player every now and again to listen to their hits. There are songs on here I hadn't heard on the "Oldies" radio station, such as "Sure Gonna Miss Her" and "Green Grass." These are little jewels amidst a fine collection of Playboy hits. It's sing-along music, and I love it! < The Essential Bob Wills 1935-1947 > < For the Last Time > < The Essential Jimmie Rodgers > < The Best of Bob Wills, Vol. 1 > < Ride With Bob > < Asleep at the Wheel - 20 Greatest Hits > Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys price:Sony(1992-10-13) Usually ships in 24 hours 1.Osage Stomp 2.Steel Guitar Rag 3.Right Or Wrong 4.Time Changes Everything 5.New San Antonio Rose 6.Bob Wills Special 7.Twin Guitar Special 8.Take Me Back To Tulsa 9.A Maiden's Prayer 10.Home In San Antone 11.Misss Molly 12.Texas Playboy Rag 13.Stay A Little Longer 14.Roly Poly 15.New Spanish Two Step 16.Sugar Moon 17.Brain Cloudy Blues 18.Fat Boy Rag 19.Deep Water 20.Bob Wills Boogie

IT SWINGS, IT'S GREAT, AND YOU CAN SEE WHY THEY WERE THE KINGS OF WESTERN SWING MUSIC. I HAVE A LOT OF BOB WILLS CD'S, AND I PREFER HIS LATER RECORDINGS, THERE IS A NINE CD SERIES CALLED THE "TIFFANY TRANSCRIPTIONS" WHICH ARE LATER RECORDINGS AND SWING JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN THIS........... I remember as a kid my Dad listening to Bob Wills. This CD is a must have for Western Swing fans and Swing fans as well. Bob Wills to me is a true legend and icon in American music culture. If you really, really like Texas swing, this is a must-have CD. When listening, I can just imagine driving down some long, straight, lonesome highway on a hot Texas summer night in my '39 Ford (which I owned once) listening to these songs on the scratchy radio (which was in the Ford I owned). The songs are repetitous, but OH SO SWEET. I wish there could have been some historical documentation with the CD, eg some bio's of the artists, a bit of concert trivia, etc. This is certianly the best priced, easiest to find, and best single disc sampler of Wills' early years. The period covered here is his best 36-47, when western swing was fresh and new. Wills creatively blends hillbilly blues, and hot jazz, for some sizzling swing music. Exellent piano and steel guitar playing throughout. The musicianship is high, and this band is really tight, I mean Flether Henderson tight! As far as the music being fun goes, you get to hear Bob Wills yell in a high pitched voice at least three times in every song "ahhh-hahhh", which is half the fun of hearing a Bob Wills album. This cd features Wills' small swing combos, and several examples of his full big band. Exellent music that is still exciting today as it was in 1936! I am 20 y ears of age and I have always been a true Bob Wills fan! This collection brings together all his early hits but his best work in my opinoin was when he was with Columbia from 1935-1947. I have all of them on the comprehensive 11 CD box set entitled San Antonio Rose which features everyone of his Columbia recordings in cronological order! It is fantastic! Highly recommended for true Bob Wills and western swing fans! For starters only I recommend this CD for it contains San Antonio Rose and all his early hits. Ah-haa!!! The Essential Bob Willsmight more accurately be calledThe Essential Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. While Wills was certainly the charismatic stage presence, talent scout, songwriter, and Western-swing mastermind, the Playboys--one of the best bands to ever grace this earth--most shine on these early sides. From horn-heavy, big-band-inspired recordings such as "Osage Stomp" and "Right or Wrong" to fiddle-driven, closer-to-country classics such as "Take Me Back to Tulsa" and "Stay a Little Longer," it was primarily the incomparable playing of pianist Al Stricklin, steel legend Leon McAuliffe, and the other Playboys, not to mention the smoother-than-smooth vocals of the great Tommy Duncan, that made this band the Southwest's flagship two-steppin' outfit and that make these 20 tracks truly "essential."--David Cantwell Rerations < The Essential Bob Wills 1935-1947 > < For the Last Time > < The Essential Jimmie Rodgers > < The Best of Bob Wills, Vol. 1 > < Ride With Bob > freaks < Playboy / Girls of Hooters > price:Playboy Home Video(1994-11-16) customer 's review (A classic) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (A Must-Have!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The video is overall worth watching and owning. You are treated to a nice mixture of models unseen in other video releases. The interesting sets and fresh faces make it a quite enjoyable video. The video is well represented by a group of busty blonds like Kimberly who gives an interesting pose underneath a corvette. The cinematography and music were well concieved. It was really tough to find fault with it but reluctantly gave it a 4 instead of a 5 rating. The video seemed to drag in spots compared to some of the hyperactive videos that Playboy has released. Not bad to most but some may find it a bit too slow. This is a must-have for any red-blooded American male. My all-time favorite girl: Renata. Her sequence is lush, erotic and sensational. customer 's review (A reminder of life unlived...) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (A medical dilema of Great Proportion) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (What May Be Going On Inside the Mind of Julian Schnabel) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Jean-Dominique Bauby: Other than my eye, two things aren't paralyzed, my imagination and my memory) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Inspiring story of triumph of the human will.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I love this movie! It was well casted and directed. I loved the way the director made the movie from the patient's perspective. My father also suffered a massive stroke. He is paralyzed on one side of his body. He sits on a wheelchair all day. His body may not have the movement, but his mind is more clear than all of us. When he tells a joke, he knows exactly what he is saying...only the words come out muffled and we don't understand what he is saying. We laugh because he expects us to. All his life, he hates to depend on people...and now, his very basic needs have to depend on people around him...especially my mother, his main caretaker. This movie did a wonderful job of portraying the frustration of the stroke victim. I walked away with more appreciation for simple things in life. Thank you, Jean-Dominique Bauby, for writing the book and thank you, Julian Schnabel, for making it come alive. I'll share this movie with my parents. Julian Schnabel has made an important film. His subject matter of "Locked In Syndrome" is accurate, and he uniquely emphasizes the profound reality of this very devistating neurological tragedy. He captures the empathy of the therapists and speech pathologists with uncanny realism, yet the independent nuances of the therapists do not distract one from the emotional experince of his film. Even the scenery is a beautiful contrast to the hospital setting in which much of the DVD takes place. In 'Le Scaphandre et le papillon' ('The Diving Bell and the Butterfly') he has portrayed the story of Jean-Dominique Bauby with a sensitivity that is endearing to the viewer, yet it remains emotionally overwhelming to the end. There is an old episode of "The Twilight Zone" by Rod Serling in which a similar situation arises with the same brain stem area involved only in that 1950's black and white episode it was due to brain trauma rather than a stroke. There are few portrayals of this condition, and as a neurologist, I am acutely aware of the very detailed medical research that must have gone into the production of this film. It is now on DVD and should be in ones collection. Dale B. Haufrect, M.D., M.A. Medical Director Med DataLink, LLC My earliest memory of Julian Schnabel are of mural-sized paintings, and photographs of the artist, topless, standing on windswept beaches. When his other films Basquiat and When Night Falls came out, I was hoping to see how he would translate it on to the screen. Everything I expected from those previous films is present in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly where a pedestrian filmgoer like myself, can clearly detect the wonderful vista in the mind of an artist's eye. The electronically-tinted tidewater glaciers breaking off in slow motion, majestically to Bach's Concerto for Piano BWV 1056 Adagio is an absolute delight. Long hair blowing in an open-top convertible, the setting sun on the surface of a person's face. These are things that keep one's interior warm and alive. And speaking of the eye, Mathieu Amalric has the most difficult job in the world: acting an entire movie with one eyeball. He succeeds with one dilated eye, anxiously bursting to free itself from the paralyzed body in which it belongs. Although Emmanuelle Seigner is featured on the cover, the real treat is Marie-Josée Croze as the therapist. Croze is one of those actors who, like Amanda Plummer, has such total command of her face, she can make one dimple twist a certain way while an eyebrow moves another way, combining a facial expression that is constantly shifting, with complex emotions subtlely underlined. Anne Consigny as the stoic and handsome assistant gives that one working eye a good reason to open up each morning. If one were to pick actors for the many classical Bergman facial shots in this film, the ones presented here were excellent choices. At first, The Diving Bell and The Butterfly reminded me of Johnny Got His Gun. After a while, like the incantation of the lettering system ("E,S,A,R,I,N....") the story comes into its own, developing its unique visual vocabulary and rhythm. Like the most frequently-used letters, our protagonist draws on his most meaningful memories and imaginative fragments to help him construct a viable reason to exist and recuperate. It's almost a play on the phrase "do I have to spell it out for you?" as we often see, from within the patient/narrator, that you can assemble letters into words, and then words into sentences, and yet, what is really going on inside your head, cannot always be translated. I saw it last night and I can't stop thinking of it. It is a totally engrossing film about a man in the extraordinary tragic situation but it is a life-confirming, profound and even optimistic cinematic experience, one of the best from last year and very close to the top. Never before (or at least I can't recall) has sound of silence been captured on the screen with such artistry, humanity, appreciation for every moment of life no matter how unbearable it could become. As long as our memory and imagination are not paralyzed and could take us anywhere in this world, we are alive. For the painter turned Film Director, Julian Schnabel, the film was his way to cope with the horrifying fear of death and with the loss of his father. I believe he succeeded admirably. I simply love this film. It takes us to the mind of the completely paralyzed man, makes us feel what he feels, see what he sees with his only alive left eye, and it is not depressing or manipulative, on the contrary - it is honest, brave, beautiful, it makes you smile a few times, and it is very moving. The Editor of Elle magazine suffered a massive stroke in his early 40's, landing in a coma. When he regains consciousness, he finds himself unable to speak and suffering from a rare "Lock In Syndrome." He trades his prior life as a bon vivant "playah" to one of a helpless person who cannot do even the most basic things for himself. With the help of patient nurses and therapists, however, he learns to communicate slowly by blinking his eyes. Eventually, he "dictates" his memoir "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" - using this slow and painstaking technique. Many viewers may opt to pass on this movie, either because of the foreign film subtitles or because of the ostensibly grim subject matter. That would be a mistake. Though the Grim Reaper prevails eventually, the protagonist finds some measure of transcendence through his literary memoir, which survives his life on earth. Extremely well-done! The movie raises many questions, not the least of which is: What kind of health plan was this guy on?! I want to get on THAT HMO. Teams of doctors and specialists swarm over him. His therapists are all young, hot looking women. Sweet! Can you imagine if the guy had had the same calamity befall him in the USA? If he was lucky, some Wanda the Warthog nurse might come in to check and rotate him a few times a day. The docs would be by at 5:45 AM for their allotted ten minutes per patient. After 45 days, the HMO would be shoving him out of that seaside rehab facility - sorry, policy limits are up!! Maybe it's the socialized medicine system in France. The seemingly claustrophobic story of a man imprisoned in his paralyzed body becomes a dazzling and expansive movie about love, imagination, and the will to live. After a stroke, Jean-Dominique Bauby (Mathieu Amalric,Kings and Queen) can only move his left eye--and through that eye he learns to communicate, one letter at a time. With the help of his speech therapist (Marie-Josee Croze,Munich) and a stenographer (Anne Consigny,Anna M.), Bauby writes the stunning memoirThe Diving Bell and the Butterfly. But such a plot summary makes the movie sound like lofty, self-important medicine--far from it. Director Julian Schnabel (Basquiat,Before Night Falls), working from an elegant screenplay by Ronald Harwood (The Pianist) and with an oustanding cast (which also includesFrantic'sEmmanuelle Seigner as Bauby's neglected wife), has created a movie as engrossing and hypnotic as a thriller, a movie that wrestles with mortality yet has stubborn streaks of dark humor and eroticism, that portrays a man who overcomes unimaginable obstacles but refuses to paint him as a saint. Schnabel was once dismissed as a pompous and overblown painter, but he's crafted an intimate visual poem, a humble sonata about life at its most fragile.--Bret Fetzer From Miramax Films acclaimed director Julian Schnabel and the screenwriter of THE PIANIST comes a remarkable and inspiring true story about the awesome power of imagination. Experience the triumphant tale of renowned editor Jean-Dominique Bauby a man whose love of life and soaring vision shaped his will to achieve a life without boundaries. What a disaster! I am not sure what people find in this kind of junk. You have to listen to mindless, brainless talking of three dumb blondes and their pastimes in the playboy mansion and that's it! Not even some decent nudity. As good as, yet better than the 1st and 2nd series. Highly recommended! Cant wait for the 4th season.. another great season from the girls next door. The girls are hilarious and they have many new adventures. Highly recommend if you're a fan like me! Forget Survivor, Big Brother, or even Top Model, here is a show for all the rest of us to enjoy. What could be better than following around Hugh Hefners girlfriends as they live their charmed lives. Be warned that unlike the TV version, they do show the naughty parts, and language isn't bleeped. It is interesting to see after 3 years of this show the evolution of the girls. Holly taking a more active role with the photo shoots, Bridgette doing a radio show (weekends on XM, but still) and trying out for voice over work, even Kendra buying property to renovate. It even seems Hef is getting out and about more. If I have half his energy at his age I'll be happy. These ladies live life to the fullest and it's such a pleasure to watch them do it. Season 3 is just as fabulous and seasons 1 and 2. The girls resume their antics in the third season of The Girls Next Door. Join Hugh Hefner and his three lovely ladies as they take you behind the gates of the Playboy Mansion.System Requirements:Run time: 352 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES&SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 024543488101 Manufacturer No: 2248810 Skeptics might suspect that this series would get stale due to so many episodes about party planning, modeling, and slumber parties, butThe Girls Next Doorgrows more endearing as time progresses in the Playboy Mansion. WhereasSeason Tworevealed small doses of inner turmoil between Hef's three ladies, alongside some moments of grumpiness, stress, and anxiety,Season Threefeatures Holly, Kendra, and Bridget as the trio comfortably settling in to their fairy-tale lives. Sure, we get the usual episodes detailing event plans for every holiday known to man ("Snow Place Like Home" and "Hearts Afire"), but some excellent shows about family excursions, such as "Snowboarded" in which Kendra pulls tricks with Shaun White, and "Surely You Joust" about the Renaissance Faire, show the viewer how close the family really is. Additionally, Hugh Hefner stars more heavily in this season. In episodes such as "Home, Sweet Suite," when the crew fly to Vegas to celebrate his birthday, one marvels at this man's empire and legions of fans. As the series progresses, in fact, one realizes how many girls not only long to participate with Playboy, but also idolize Holly, Kendra, and Bridget as career women who are sexy, silly, and fun. This DVD set also features a one-hour behind-the-scenes special, though the real treat, as always, is watching each episode to laugh with the girls' bubbly senses of humor, to gawk at their extremely charmed daily existence, and to live vicariously through the glamour. More hot tubs, more cocktails, more fluffy dogs—it's impossible to get enough.—Trinie Dalton Rerations < The Girls Next Door - Season 3 > < The Girls Next Door - Season 2 > < The Girls Next Door - Season 1 > < Girls Next Door Workout > < The Simple Life - The Complete Fifth Season (Goes to Camp) > freaks < The Girls Next Door - Season 2 > < The Girls Next Door - Season 1 > < The Girls Next Door - Season 3 > < Girls Next Door Workout > < The Simple Life - The Complete Fourth Season ('Til Death Do Us Part) > < The Hills - The Complete Second Season > price:20th Century Fox(2007-05-01) Usually ships in 24 hours

What can I say?? Hef,Holly, Bridget and Kendra are back in this 2nd season! More playmates, drama, fun and nakedness! I thought the 2nd season was better than the first as you've had the introduction to the mansion in the first season. This is a great show and just makes me want to enter thier world. This is sad. A total tribute to dog-faced overprocessed girls with zero self-esteem, working out their childhood damage with - you guess it! - a gross, lecherous man who can double for their grandpa. Sick. Great for pigs and misogynists, though! I wonder if they teach their daughters to act this way, though. Hmmm! Season 2 was just as good as the first season, it got more into getting to know the girls better individually. I love this show, I think it is hilarious, and I would recommend buying season 2! I love the Girls Next Door, the second dvd set is much better than the first because in the second dvd set they offer a watch all episode feature so that you do not have to keep going back to the main menu to start another episode. By now the world knows these three beautiful women by name: Holly, Bridget, and Kendra are no longer described simply as "Hef's Girlfriends" (although they are...all 3 of them). Thanks to the E channels hit reality show the Girls Next Door, people are able to get to know these women, and take a quick glimpse into the amazing lives that they lead at the Playboy Mansion. Holly is girlfriend #1 -- she sleeps with Hef in "their" bedroom, has been dating Hef for the longest (going on 6 years now!), and in general maintains the status of Lady of the House. She's a real sweetheart, and while she dreams to someday be able to marry Hef and start of family of her own, she still enjoys the close friendships she's made with Bridget (who has been dating Hef for about 4 years), and Kendra (who has been dating Hef for about 2 years now). The three of them together equal tons of fun, and they each bring a unique personality to the show. This DVD boxset is awesome. It is 100% completely uncensored -- so anything that is either blurred, bleeped, or edited out for content control while the episodes air on live TV, is likewise left alone for the DVDs. Boobs, butt, and cuss words abound, so even if you've seen all the episodes on TV, I guarentee the experience is quite different once you view them again on DVD. One of my favorite features of these discs would be the commentary. All three women provide commentary for each and every episode, and I fully recommend taking advantage of that fact. They will nitpick the episode apart, tell the audience when and where the network took a few too many liberties with the editing, and basically provide a little extra insight, and some interesting little tidbits. Holly personally stated that she loves doing the commentary for all the episodes because it gives her the opportunity to sometimes "set the record straight" and "have the last word" on some of the many mansion escapades! Don't miss out, because these are seriously some of the most entertaining DVDs you'll own! I've considered it a very wise investment! Just like withSeason One, watchingSeason Twois like eating junk food, so sensational and silly are the three ladies commenting on their glamorous day-to-day activities. Though the novelty of the show has worn off, more appearances by Hugh Hefner and a gained understanding of the trio's dynamics--equally friendly and competitive--helps the show transcend utter banality. In fact, the show feels more likeDynasty, now an intricate combination of reality television and soap opera. More shown aggravations amongst the ladies, and more glimpses of Hef's love for this unfolding drama in his own home, make the show a fine example of American sensationalism. Two episodes are dedicated to Hef's 80th birthday extravangaza, making it the most significant story in the second season. Wonderful footage of previous Hefner birthdays and previous playmates frolicking nearly nude adds heft to Playboy's historical significance. It's astonishing to think that this icon has enjoyed such a lifestyle for half a decade, and truly amazing to see Hefner now, on television, touring Europe in "I See London, I See France," dancing in nightclubs, or hosting a slumber party in "Sleepwear Optional." The girls, too, have seemingly settled into their careers when prepping to host their own exercise shows in "Mutiny On the Booty," during which Kendra, the biggest ditz of the three, shines with her martial arts demonstrations. As tempting as it is to choose favorites among the ladies inSeason Two, one begins to realize that it's their metaphorical ménage-a-trois that keeps the show sexy, and that's what it's all about.—Trinie Dalton Rerations < The Girls Next Door - Season 2 > < The Girls Next Door - Season 1 > < The Girls Next Door - Season 3 > < Girls Next Door Workout > < The Simple Life - The Complete Fourth Season ('Til Death Do Us Part) > freaks < Playboy Bunny Tanning Stickers 50 > < Cherries Tanning Stickers 50 > < Triple Hearts Tanning Stickers 50 > < Butterfly Tanning Stickers 50 > < Dolphin Tanning Stickers 50 > < Hemp leaf Tanning Stickers 50 > price:Lotions2go

This was an alright game, didnt like it as much as the first one, but still is fun to play once you accomplish the story :) This was agreat game! Way better than the Sims. I loved it.And of course I thank baazar-direct for sending me the product when promised, it actually got to me 2 days early. Buying this game was the best on-line shopping experience i've had.Thankyou bazaar-direct and amazon. I bought this Singles2 game from a seller on amazon a week ago, i got it and installed it, i was exciteed cause i love games like this. But when i started to play it the characters only had eyelashes and lips, nothing else, no body, head nothing! So i tried uninstalling it re-installing, this did not work, my laptop specs are perfect for this game so its not that. I emailed the seller, who didnt help much, bascially they said its not their fault, it was something got to do with my graphic card. Anyway, i downloaded an up to date graphic card driver, and still the characters were invisible. I went into a site on the net, and loads of people had the exact same problem with this game and no one has helped them. My advise is buy the game from a local shop near you so you can just go back and change it, now im stuck with a game i cant play.....NOT FAIR! Product Description Life. Love. Passion. customer 's review (AWESOME!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Very adicting and fun.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Good Game, Quite the Novelty!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (feel like hugh) ![]() ![]() ![]() (The Sims Gone Wild) ![]() I am so hooked on this game!! If you like the sims..buy this and forget about the sims you have played cause this game blows the sims OUT of the water!!! This game is one of the most addictive games I have ever played. It captures all the things of the real Playboy empire. Throwing parties, making issues of magazines, shooting photos yourself, women wearing sexy cloths, fake boobs, and a wee bit of sex. You can play missions or just free play. Pick women to put on the cover, and like I said take the cover photos yourself, get into relationships, shoot photos of celebrities, and choose the cloths they wear for it. One part I liked about this game is you don't need to unlock to ability for your playmates or girls to go topless, you get the ability right off the bat. But, the boobs are just a tad pixily, and just look fake, but thats how playboy is right? You can engage in sex with any girl in the game, but, like The Sims, you have to build a good relationship with them. But that takes about 2 minutes, LITERALLY! When you do engage in sex, if they aren't your girlfriend, you do it on the couch. If they are, then you can do it on the couch, AND the bed. But, only the boobs are reviled. They both wear a bottom. So sorry for you hard core porn lovers out there. The only downsides is it would be cool if you could somehow make your own playmate. Choose all the physical characteristics, profession, and everything. The other downside is the camera is can just get annoying. Summing it up, you get the freedom of The Sims (if not more) If you can do it in The Sims, you can do it here, except going into detail of creating a character, or even creating a character at all. You also have missions too. It's not like The Sims where its basiacally just build a house, but real missions that require some thinking. Very bottom line: If you want to play a sexier, funner, more adicting game than The Sims, pick this up. You will NOT regret it. Purchased this game on a whim/dare. Found that it's not that bad of a game. Good fun game play, very much resembling The Sims, except with a twist that only Playboy could bring to the gaming world. Overall a fun, entertaining and good game. A good game which makes fun to play. But if you like to see some more sex you're wrong with this game. For this i would prefer sites like eroticpcgames.com I thought it was boring and stupid. It's "The Sims Uncensored" basically. Playboy: The Mansion combines social simulation with role-playing and empire-building. You'll develop the Playboy mansion, build the brand and start anempire based on the idea of sexual liberation. customer 's review (The Sims + Boobs = Playboy The Mansion) ![]() ![]() ![]() (Interesting...) ![]() ![]() ![]() (Cool But boring) ![]() (Huge replay value...) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Addictive.......) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I need to start this review with a disclaimer: I tried this game because I respect Hugh Hefner as an entrepreneur and liked the idea of building a publishing empire. Having played the game, I wonder how I was so naïve as to believe a game with Playboy in the title could be more than a softcore boobfest. The Mansion has two possible target audiences, yet it manages to miss both completely. The first group consists of voyeurs looking for some tasteful nudity and a somewhat more "interactive" experience than the magazine. Unfortunately for them "tasteful" is not the first word I'd use to describe The Mansion, nor will they find the "interactivity" they seek. In order to steer clear of an AO rating, there is no nudity below the waist and "sensual encounters" are essentially heavily watered-down lap dances. As for the other target audience, I'm thinking of folks who enjoy the Sims-style play serving as the foundation upon which The Mansion is built. Apart from a lot of bugs, the obvious problem here is that any innovations The Mansion might bring to the table are obscured by all the boobies. The central theme is to play the role of a young Hugh Hefner and set out to build a publishing empire. In order to improve circulation of the magazine, you need to attract celebs for photo shoots and interesting people for interviews. In order to convince these individuals to work with you, you must prove you know how to have a good time by throwing endless parties, paying careful attention to the guest list to avoid potential personality clashes. While this all works well for the first few hours of the game, it quickly becomes a tedious chore to keep everyone in a constant state of elation. The reality is that, at its maximum depth, The Mansion will barely reach your ankles. In fact, this review is probably somewhat superfluous because upon looking at the game's title and box artwork it's highly likely that any presumptions you might have are already completely accurate. This was interesting but it's mostly disappointing. I really enjoyed the game play and liked that it had more involvement than a regular SIMS type game making you meet requirements and all BUT it is rated mature for sexual content but doesn't show anything. There is sex...but the characters wear underwear the entire time. You only see breasts and I don't see why that makes it a mature rating. My Heff got to do interesting things like host partys, hire and fire staff, have sex on the pinball machine, etc. This was a good buy and keeps me entertained. Who doesnt like playboy? but this game sucks because there are too many glitches and it messes up all the time and crashes your ps2 so you have to turn it off and on. Its like a sim game that looks better but plays worse. The Playboy Mansion game is, when you come down to it, a somewhat interesting business game. You run the Playboy Magazine and have to publish a issue each month, full of interviews, photos of sexy women and interesting articles. To do so you have to hire staff, party with the movers and shakers of the fashion, film, sports and music industries, and try to get the best material for your magazine. Do well and the cash and points will pour in, allowing you to buy new items, open new locations and throw more parties. Get enough fame and you can have up to four girlfriends. The game is a fun business game, with sex and adult humor tossed in. Networking is very important - make sure to make as many deals as you can, gain lots of friends and flirt till you pass out. I love playing free style and in my current game have only two of the last goals left! Always check out the trends before creating the issue, make sure to use your girlfriends to butter up future business partners, and always keep an eye on the bottom line - COST! Playboy The Mansion is a very good strategy game. Getting good content for your magazines proves to be a very deep and envolving task. Forget about the sexual content after about 30 minutes the topless women become secondary, and Yes there is sex but its with underwear on and its not sexy at all, its actually funny the first few times but also gets old. The unlockables are forgettable, who wants to see 1964 playmates, Damn where women ugly back then, look and you'll see at least compared to the couple of modern playmates you can unlock. however i found it fun to pump out issues trying to max out the market to get maximum exposure. The graphics are ok but you would have figured a game which focuses on hot women would have made them in a clearer and more pronounced way. The music once you buy a stereo or a dj station is good, you actually chose a type and it sounds really good. I was impresssed overall by this game and would reccommend it to adults only, and strategy game fans. i enjoyed this Sims type game. The pc version is much better than the ps2, the ps2 allows you only 1 photo for each photo shoot. the pc version lets you shoot an entire roll, 24 exposures during a centerfold or cover shoot and you can then choose later between them for each months issue. Boring to some but fun to me. The playboy mansion is an okay game as far as what you do and how the plot is set up, but why do all of the characters sound garbled? I almost thought it was a south park game... jk In playboy manison, you are Hugh Hefner the creator and founder of the playboy enterprise. It's up to you to design fabulous magazine spreads, bring in the bacon, throw parties, and live the life basically. I agree with all of the other reviews in here as to this game getting to be boring after a while. But if you have nothing else to do for fun in the evening, this game can help pass the time. Buy the private party expansion pack if you get this game. Their is so much more stuff in it that you can do and try out. You are looking for a more titillating Sims with a management component mixed in? Well, look elsewhere... This is one boring game. It tried to steal a lot of ideas from The Sims, but they are all implemented badly. Wanna build a business relationship with a rock star? Just click the "business conversation" button often. Creating the magazine itself is boring too. It always happens exactly the same way. Photo shoots are boring pretty much right away. And as far as the sexy content goes... well, it ain't sexy. If I were you, I'd pass on this one. You'll develop the Playboy mansion, build the brand and start an empire based on the idea of sexual liberation. But fame and fortune don't come easy - manage your staff, count your money and build the right celebrity contacts to help you get ahead. customer 's review (James Bond Cards) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These are good quality cards and the images are vibrant. Though the pictures are a little too busy and too big to play serious poker with they are fine for a casual game and if everyone is a Bond fan they will get a kick out of them. In addition to the set I bought for myself I also got some for my brother, also a lifelong Bond fan and he loved them. The price is a little high considering the shipping and handling since they don't come directly from Amazon, but then it is a special kinda item so what are you going to do. All and all I would recommend these for the serious Bond fan, but not the serious card shark. 52 Unforgettable scenes from the 007 Movies This collection feature from Film 1 to 10 Dr. No; From Russia with Love; Goldfinger; Thunderball; You Only Live Twice; On her Majesty?s Secret Service; Diamonds are Forever; Live and Let Die; The Man with The Golden Gun&The spy who Loved Me. customer 's review (James Bond Set # 2) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Since I have rated all three of these James Bond Card sets you can see my review of the cards in general on the page for Collection # 1 for films 1-10...Basically it comes down to this you should not buy this set unless you plan on buying the first one to go with it, personally I think they should sell it as a two pack, but hey if they did that they would only be able to hit you for shipping and handling once, right. So unless you think Timothy Dalton was the best Bond, or you don't know anything about Bond and are buying this as a gift for a Bond fan, do not buy this one without buying the first set with the Sean Connery movies. 52 Unforgettable scenes from the 007 Movies This collection feature from Film 11 to 20 Moonraker; For Your Eyes Only; Octopussy; A View to A Kill; The Living Daylights; License to Kill; Golden Eye; Tomorrow Never Dies; The World it?s not Enough; Die Another Day. customer 's review (Bunny Tales Book) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Some interesting insights, but not worth the cover price overall) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Don't waste your money) ![]() ![]() (Waste) ![]() (bounced all around) ![]() ![]() Interesting if you have ever been to one of the Mansions Parties or if you ever watch "The girls next door" you gotta read this. Lets say "there is always two sides to a story" Nice book I got this from a friend, and because it was free I didn't feel like I had to get my money's worth out of it. I enjoyed it a lot and found it a trashy, shocking at times, strange, and engaging book that blows apart the image Hef tries to create for himself. The grammatical errors were all over the place and that drove me nuts, but the actual content was fun. Yes, she divulges bedroom gossip - but it was about the least interesting part of the book. I enjoyed the parts about the dynamic between the gals and Hef much more. By the end I was pretty sick of all the drama and silliness. In many ways, Izabella is right that Hef wasn't very generous or understanding at times, but I think she misses the point that they had a business arrangement, not a relationship. She admits herself that she never had any alone time with Hef to really bond with him, so why is she surprised that when she has to leave, for whatever personal reason, she doesn't get an allowance? Her naiveté is surprising. Overall this is a fun book to read if you are curious about that lifestyle, but the writing and story aren't quite compelling enough to make it worth the cover price. I'd borrow it from the library. If you want to read a book about the sexy life, try Callgirl by Jeannette Angell. Written with much more style and savvy, Callgirl has a lot more in the way of juicy details about what that life is really like. This woman tries to make herself sound good. She trashes all the other 'girlfriends' in the house while making herself sound educated, entitled and completely validated. She's not. She bashes Hugh Hefner and tries to make the pampered life of a 'girlfriend' sound tedious. She flaunts her law school education and tries to make light of the fact that she never passed her boards. She also tries to make it seem she wasn't basically a prostitute as a paid employee of Hef. I was bored and I ended up not liking her at all. If you are looking for a book to divulge secrets about the Playboy Mansion and Hugh Hefner, this is not the book. It pretty much sums up exactly what you already know about the mansion. It jumps from topic to topic with no real outline. At one point she says she hates her life at the Mansion and the next minute she loves it. She makes it out like she is so much better than everyone else, yet she stays for the "free" ride. Also, there are numerous spelling and grammatical errors in the book. Very poorly edited. Total waste of money and time! It was okay, but not written very well. The author's mind seemed all over the place. I kept wondering if anyone had actually read the book before publishing it. It just seemed like I was reading the first draft of someone's book. What happens in the Mansion, doesn’t stay in the Mansion! How did I get here? I was raised a nice Catholic girl in Ontario, Canada. I am an only child whose parents lavished their attention and resources on me. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree and a law degree, and I’m studying to take the California bar. I am comfortable with my own sexuality, responsible for my own orgasm, and have never been sexually or emotionally abused. And yet for two years, I lived at the infamous Playboy Mansion, rolled in a posse of seven succulent beauties, and was a co-girlfriend of the father of the sexual revolution and the world's largest living hedonist. What is wrong with this picture? The Bunnies. The Girlfriends. The Mansion. The Grotto. The Myth. The Man. The Fantasy. The Reality. Izabella St. James left colder climes for the beaches of Malibu. Young, blond, and pretty, she was looking for fun, and the SoCal nightlife was a powerful magnet. Out clubbing one night, she met Hugh Hefner and his friends. Beyond the silk robe and age-proof good looks, Hugh was a genial man who invited Izabella to join his group of friends and then to move into the world-famous Mansion as one of Hef’s girlfriends. (Plural.)Bunny Talesis Izabella’s story-of a party girl who discovered what work it is to play all the time. Plastic surgery, gorgeous clothes, cool cars, and a generous weekly allowance are the perks of Mansion life, but Hef’s girlfriends are a clique, a sorority, a group of best buds, and bitter rivals, the worst of high school in an adult party circuit. Izabella was witness to the growing pains of an empire-and legend-built on a revolution long over. Like the best relationships,Bunny Talesis honest and fun, revealing and real, satisfying and surprising. This book comes in a leather case that, by itself is truly amazing. As expensive as this item is, it is really worth every penny. DOWNSIDE This item is huge and weighs almost 40 pounds so Amazon charges like $12 in shipping costs. Thankfully, I was able to purchase this from a 3rd party seller on Amazon and saved quite a bit of money when I added up the item cost and shipping (the 3rd party seller only wanted $3.99 for shipping)!! It came real fast in perfect condition. I am thrilled with this purchase. Well worth the discounted price offered by Amazon. For anyone/everyone who is a fan of Playboy Magazine, and not just for the articles, I recommend this book highly (if one can afford it)! The women are spectacular, and the photography is the best in the business. The protective leather suitcase is a really nice touch, and the quality of the paper is also excellent. (It weighs a lot, though). Again, well worth the $$! For awhile the price was dropping by about $10 a day, as if they were trying to find the price people were willing to pay -- for a couple of days it listed as low as $170, and then it suddenly jumped back up to $315 (and now I'm regretting that I didn't grab that price while I could). If nobody buys it at the current price maybe it'll start dropping again. It's worth a try... I frequently ask this question: Who had the most fun in the twentieth century? The answer I've maintained for some time is: Mick Jagger. (Keith would be second, but I disqualify him because I don't think he remembers much.) Hugh Hefner would be the next in line. What a career. What a legacy. Some people might maintain that his legacy is vacuous and that his career is insipid. I disagree, and immediately sense either jealousy or ignorance. Hefner has done wonderful things for women (as well as us men, obviously), women's rights, and countless other charities and causes, First Amedment and beyond. His decades of frolicking with babes only a fraction of his age is a well-deserved reward for his numerous efforts on various fronts, and thereby advancing the notions of freedom and enlightenment. Hefner is straight out of an Ayn Rand novel, a bold visionary who believes life is to be lived for ample doses of work and pleasure, and whose self-indulgence has as a byproduct vast benefit for his fellow man. (True, I do think his epic life-story would have a fabulous ending if he now married a woman close to his age, and made a proclamation of some sort advancing romantic ideals, to work in conjunction with his previous accomplishments relating to sexual idealism.) I mention the man who is the publisher of this book because I thought of him and his decades of accomplishment as I flipped through each and every page of this vast tome. Imagine, the first picture is of no one other than Marilyn Monroe! But my personal favorite was about a year later: Bettie Page! I was also struck by the photo of Dorothy Stratten. There are lots of stories here, lots of history. Indeed, most of the shots are very appealing, and actually much sexier than I had remembered. (True, the recent shots of girls who have shaved themselves are, in my opinion, grotesque.) Although my favorites are somewhere between 1965 and 1978, each decade has its appeal. These pictures really jump out at you, the printing quality is first-rate, and the vast volume of beautiful female imagery is probably unmatched by any other book anywhere. It took me almost two hours to flip through these pages. The briefcase: I was curious if it was real "leather." No, it is not. Is it kind of cheesey? Yes, very. The dilemma posed by the briefcase is that you have to find a place to stash the darned thing. You can't really place it on a bookshelf. Really, I wish they had built a slip-case for the book instead of this vinyl, goofy briefcase. However, the briefcase is kind of useful because the book is so heavy that it otherwise would be cumbersome to move about. But the thin vinyl reminds me of an old cassette tape case, and I suspect that before long the vinyl will crack or get holes punctured in it. The book itself, however, in contrast, is very solid with a nice cloth binding. I do wish it had a nice ribbon book mark, because there was one babe in particular in 1978 who really deserved a rigorous marking! (I guess I'll just have to flip through this thing again soon and re-locate her.) All told, this book is perhaps the best single summary of an incredible publishing legacy. Thank you, Mr. Hefner, for all you've done to enrich our lives the last sixty years. While many of us primarily read Playboy during our "fraternity years," the lessons taught in this magazine about living the good life, and being a gentleman, have endured long after that. This is a piece of history. I was around when the first playboy was issued. So that means a long time. This comes in a black briefcase with combination locks and a raised playboy bunny. Just the case alone is stunning. The book inside contains all the centerfolds unfolded in real size. The cover and binding are first rate. The pages inside are printed on top notch paper. This is well worth the money. This book and case weigh 37.5 pounds. Once you see it you will realize you have a true collectors item if that is what you are into. I debated on whether I should spend the money on it and took a chance, because I have three other playboy books, now I am glad I did, because you will not see any other kind of book bound like this and in a case like this, let alone for the money. It is unique among any type of book. It is not something you buy just for the pictures, you could have saved all the single issues and have them all, but of course they would be folded and in this book they are not. It is something that you buy for the volume, binding and case itself. A piece of history, that usually would never be produced in any other book. Think of it a large page from every issue of this magazine. I doubt that any other magazine of any kind will ever do what Playboy has done. This is a show stopper as a book. I stopped reading Playboy because I considered the girls to be too one dimensional and the pictures to be to contrived. They don't seem real. I like my women to look like women, not fake breasts, shaved pubic hair and airbrushed plastic dolls. But I did buy this book because of the quality, besides a lot of the centerfolds in the earlier issues looked more like real women before Hef got old and silly. So, Karen set out to write a book about it. The book details Chicago's Levee (red light) District and the Christian Soldiers Marching Onward as to War thereon circa The Jungle of Upton Sinclair. Sinclair lays it all out, oozing the blood, the stench of the stockyards, and all. Abbott, however, is oddly Victorian about the meat of her subject matter: long on the historical/political but short on the lives of those allegedly taken into "sin slavery" and the goings on in the houses thereof. The focus, on the sex side, is on two Southern sisters and their "Cadillac" of a House, the Everleigh Club. (Pronounced Ever-Lay - as in Frito - which, the reader is told, is the etymology of the phrase "to get ...") The reader is also told of a nascent New Yorker, Alphonse Capone, not yet emigrated to the Second City to begin that chapter of Chicago, which, were Abbott to write it, would be populated by nice young gentlemen riding around in cars with booze. The female victims of SitSS are mostly nameless, faceless "harlots" having the hapless misfortune of encountering "pimps" and "panders." By book's end, this befuddled reader has yet to be able to tell those "p" guys apart. /TundraVision, Amazon Reviewer In 1900 Ada and Minna Everleigh, two outwardly respectable sisters from The Olde South, opened the grandest whorehouse in America, Chicago's fabled Everleigh Club. For the next eleven years, the sisters and their "butterflies" welcomed Senators, congressmen, plutocrats, ranchers, actors, and royalty through their mahogany doors and into their gilded parlors. Increasingly effective reform movements eventually put the handwriting on Club's walls, and in 1911 the sisters closed their business venture and gracefully retired to Manhattan with $20 million in colorfully-gotten gains. Karen Abbott's meticulously researched, compulsively readable Sin in the Second City details the history of the sisters, the city, the clientele, the reformers, and the club. Chicago's Levee District, peopled with unlikely characters named Blubber Bob Gray, Hinky Dink McKenna, and Bathhouse John Coughlin springs to life in this enjoyable, stylish social history. Sin in the Second City is a must for anyone interested in the history of social movements, the Victorian era, Chicago--or for those looking for a crackling good read. Even aficianados of corrupt Chicago history will be amazed, as well as amused, by Karen Abbott's book about the adventures of two ersatz Southern belles running the fanciest fancy house in town. It was the gilded era just before the Great War; Capone was still in New York and the Mann Act was only a glint in a stuffy solon's eye when Minna and Ada opened the Everleigh Club in Chicago's unsavory Levee District on the near South Side. The decor was overdone to a fare-the-well, and the girls, according to Abbott, were the best. You won't learn from this book what they were the best at; their attraction seems to have been based on the notion that you get what you pay for (at least $50, at a time when the rock-bottom price for sex was 50 cents) and the fact that they were clean, well-dressed, at least to start, and sweet-smelling, compared both to their competition and to the stench of Chicago politics. Hinky-Dink, Bathhouse John, Big Jim and the rest are so blatantly foul that it's positively refreshing to read about them, in light of the current antics of -- fill in your favorite governor, mayor or ex-president here. You may not have the same reaction, but I found myself rooting for the crooks and whoremasters, who seem so much more, well, normal than the anti-sex crusaders and their obsessions with purity. If you were left in the dark by the talk about the Mann Act and Eliot Spitzer, Abbott can tell you how it all began, and do it with style, if not quite with the prurience one might hope for. It's a very well-researched and well-written book. The Everleigh Sisters ran the finest bordello in North America in the early part of the 20th century, with fine food, elegantly-clad, healthy girls and the best entertainment ala Balzac. Their goal was to elevate "the profession" and they insisted on a $50 cover charge in 1908 dollars. This is also the story of attempts to clean up Chicago, particularly the white slave trade in the aftermath of the World's Fair spectacularly captured in The Devil and the White City. Colorful characters clash with the gilt-and-velvet Victorian interior decorating to fix the era in our consciousness. The notoriety of Chicago lingered: as a small child, I went to Chicago for holiday shopping and I now understand my mother's caveats--it was the only place where, if lost, I was not to go to a policeman, For more, see The Bordello Cookbook. [Review based on an early QPC edition.] I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I'm so taken with historical tales being told with a novel stance. I felt like I knew these ladies---I want to hang out with them! When I took a step back to consider a synopsis of the book, I realized, you can't make this stuff up! Truth is stranger than fiction! Karen Abbott's telling of this tale really brought all of it home to me. As a Chicago native, I loved reading about all the characters and all the places and knowing what's changed---and what hasn't---in my city. I found it to be rich and informative and entertaining! Step into the perfumed parlors of the Everleigh Club, the most famous brothel in American history–and the catalyst for a culture war that rocked the nation. Operating in Chicago’s notorious Levee district at the dawn of the last century, the Club’s proprietors, two aristocratic sisters named Minna and Ada Everleigh, welcomed moguls and actors, senators and athletes, foreign dignitaries and literary icons, into their stately double mansion, where thirty stunning Everleigh“butterflies” awaited their arrival. Courtesans named Doll, Suzy Poon Tang, and Brick Top devoured raw meat to the delight of Prince Henry of Prussia and recited poetry for Theodore Dreiser. Whereas lesser madams pocketed most of a harlot’s earnings and kept a“whipper” on staff to mete out discipline, the Everleighs made sure their girls dined on gourmet food, were examined by an honest physician, and even tutored in the literature of Balzac. Not everyone appreciated the sisters’ attempts to elevate the industry. Rival Levee madams hatched numerous schemes to ruin the Everleighs, including an attempt to frame them for the death of department store heir Marshall Field, Jr. But the sisters’ most daunting foes were the Progressive Era reformers, who sent the entire country into a frenzy with lurid tales of“white slavery”——the allegedly rampant practice of kidnapping young girls and forcing them into brothels. This furor shaped America’s sexual culture and had repercussions all the way to the White House, including the formation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. With a cast of characters that includes Jack Johnson, John Barrymore, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., William Howard Taft,“Hinky Dink” Kenna, and Al Capone, Sin in the Second City is Karen Abbott’s colorful, nuanced portrait of the iconic Everleigh sisters, their world-famous Club, and the perennial clash between our nation’s hedonistic impulses and Puritanical roots. Culminating in a dramatic last stand between brothel keepers and crusading reformers,Sin in the Second Cityoffers a vivid snapshot of America’s journey from Victorian-era propriety to twentieth-century modernity. Praise forSin in the Second City: “Assiduously researched… [Sin in the Second City] describes a popular culture awash in wild tales of sexual abuse, crusading reformers claiming God on their side, and deep suspicion of the threat posed by“foreigners” to the nation’s Christian values.” ——Janet Maslin,The New York Times “Lavish in her details, nicely detached in her point of view, [and with] scrupulous concern for historical accuracy, Ms. Abbott has written an immensely readable book.Sin in the Second Cityoffers much in the way of reflection for those interested in the unending puzzle that goes by the name of human nature."—The Wall Street Journal "Abbott's first book is meticulously researched and entertaining... a colorful history of old Chicago that reads like a novel." ——The Atlanta Journal Constitution “With gleaming prose and authoritative knowledge Abbott elucidates one of the most colorful periods in American history, and the result reads like the very best fiction. Sex, opulence, murder— What's not to love?” —— Sara Gruen, author ofWater for Elephants “A detailed and intimate portrait of the Ritz of brothels, the famed Everleigh Club of turn-of-the-century Chicago. Sisters Minna and Ada attracted the elites of the world to such glamorous chambers as the Room of 1,000 Mirrors, complete with a reflective floor. And isn’t Minna’s advice to her resident prostitutes worthy advice for us all:“Give, but give interestingly and with mystery.”’ —— Erik Larson, author ofThe Devil in the White City “Karen Abbott has combined bodice-ripping salaciousness with top-notch scholarship to produce a work more vivid than a Hollywood movie.” —— Melissa Fay Greene, author ofThere is No Me Without You “Sin in the Second City is a masterful history lesson, a harrowing biography, and - best of all - a superfun read. Ships in 1 to 3 weeks?? This is a joke! Vendor sells products she doesn't have and can't get. Ordered product as a gift on march 5th. Sent several e-mails only to be told it will ship by the Th. Why would that be? Because she has no stock on this already published calendar. Now she cancels because she can't find the item. I intend to complain to Amazon as this is not what they want their image to be. BUYERS BE WARNED. This ain't no ebay!

(Return to the Playboy Mansion)
(Better than his first visit)
Having never heard of Dimitri of Paris before, I was browsing through my local Virgin Mega Store and heard this CD blasting out.
This is going to be a present day, pumped up house compilation ala Ministry of Sound."
How wrong I was!!!
I've heard Dimitri's first visit to the Playboy Mansion and now his return and if I was asked to compare the two, I'd say his second visit is much better!
The first of the two CD's is mainly stylish disco music that has a nice mix of young and old. It's great to hear a mix of old tunes such as Marvin Gaye&Tammi Terell's classic 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' with newer jazz music such as Mario Biondi's 'This Is What You Are.'
The second CD is very much "get down" music which includes tracks from artists such as Barry White, Jean Carn, Melba Moore, Amii Stewart and Marvin Gaye's classic 'I Want You.'
I'm not sure if there are any other DJ's out there who could do a remix of this nature and quality besides Dimitri From Paris. You can feel his personality in the music from the eclectic mix of young and old which is typical of his style.
Overall, I would say that this compilation is better than his first visit to the Playboy Mansion and it's a welcome change from the high tempo, pumped up, dance music that is popular in this day and age.

(Fantastic!)
(Gary Lewis&the Playboys, greatest hits)
(For The Most Part Lightweight Pop)
(Simple, wonderful tunes)
(Of all my CDs (100s), this is my favorite!)
Oh what memories what memories....from the 60's.
This CD has excellent quality, and lack of quality can sometimes scare one away from Curb. This was one of the first CDs I purchased back in 1996, and remains the favorite. I usually purchase Bill Ingot's work from Rhino, but this, to me, sounds even better. (THE PLAYBOYS EARLY STUFF)
(MUSIC I GREW UP ON)
(The Essential Bob Wills&His Texas Playboys)
(Aahhh-hah, I've found the essential single disc collection of Wills' hottest sides)
(Bob Wills will always be the king!)
THIS IS A NICE COLLECTION OPF RECORDINGS BY BOB WILLS AND THE TEXAS PLAYBOYS, THE EARLY VERSION OF THE BAND, AND SOME OF THEIR EARLIEST RECORDINGS.
From horn-heavy, big-band-inspired recordings such as "Osage Stomp" and "Right or Wrong" to fiddle-driven, closer-to-country classics such as "Take Me Back to Tulsa" and "Stay a Little Longer," it was primarily the incomparable playing of pianist Al Stricklin, steel legend Leon McAuliffe, and the other Playboys, not to mention the smoother-than-smooth vocals of the great Tommy Duncan, that made this band the Southwest's flagship two-steppin' outfit and that make these 20 tracks truly "essential."--David Cantwell

(A classic)
(A Must-Have!)
The video is overall worth watching and owning.
You'll want to visit her again and again. The different"Playboy"videos are produced by different independent producers, so their quality varies IMMENSELY. This video is one of the superb ones in terms of quality of girls, photography and fantasy.

(MY FAVORITE, GREAT STUFF)
(Great babes!)
This video is my favorite among the sexy lingerie series. It has lots of sensual and well made scenes. The Orient Express scene with Barbara Edwards is the best there is. Too bad there is not much video I can find on her. She has this sensual quality and classy, porcelain like skin. The other scenes were excellent too like the wedding, and the artist painting a lady (i don't recall all the titles).

(A reminder of life unlived...)
(A medical dilema of Great Proportion)
(What May Be Going On Inside the Mind of Julian Schnabel)
(Jean-Dominique Bauby: Other than my eye, two things aren't paralyzed, my imagination and my memory)
(Inspiring story of triumph of the human will.)
I love this movie!
Medical Director Med DataLink, LLC
My earliest memory of Julian Schnabel are of mural-sized paintings, and photographs of the artist, topless, standing on windswept beaches.
Schnabel was once dismissed as a pompous and overblown painter, but he's crafted an intimate visual poem, a humble sonata about life at its most fragile.--Bret Fetzer
From Miramax Films acclaimed director Julian Schnabel and the screenwriter of THE PIANIST comes a remarkable and inspiring true story about the awesome power of imagination. Experience the triumphant tale of renowned editor Jean-Dominique Bauby a man whose love of life and soaring vision shaped his will to achieve a life without boundaries. You'll soon discover why David Benby of "The New Yorker" calls THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY "nothing less than the rebirth of the cinema."System Requirements:Running Time: 112 minutes Language: English / Spanish / French Subtitles: English / French / SpanishFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: DRAMA/TRUE STORY Rating: PG-13 UPC: 786936750119 Manufacturer No: 05596700

(What a disaster!)
(Even Better)
(another great season)
(Best 'Reality' show on TV.)
(The ladies are, as always, delightful)
I have never seen a playboy series on cable TV, and wanted to have a peek just for record.
Join Hugh Hefner and his three lovely ladies as they take you behind the gates of the Playboy Mansion.System Requirements:Run time: 352 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES&SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 024543488101 Manufacturer No: 2248810
Skeptics might suspect that this series would get stale due to so many episodes about party planning, modeling, and slumber parties, butThe Girls Next Doorgrows more endearing as time progresses in the Playboy Mansion. More hot tubs, more cocktails, more fluffy dogs—it's impossible to get enough.—Trinie Dalton

(Season 2-Girls Next Door)
(disturbing and sad)
(The Girls Next Door, @ It Again!)
(Girls Next Door Second Season DVD set)
(Entertaining Peek inside the Playboy Mansion!)
WOW WOW WOW!!

The Girls Next Door: Season Twooffers 16 more episodes of Holly, Bridget, and Kendra's pranks and party planning as Hef's main girls at the Playboy Mansion. As tempting as it is to choose favorites among the ladies inSeason Two, one begins to realize that it's their metaphorical ménage-a-trois that keeps the show sexy, and that's what it's all about.—Trinie Dalton

(Worst company I've ever dealt with)
(Love them!)
(I AM STILL STILL WAITING ON THIS ITEM TO ARRIVE)
(Red Glitter Shoes, Dorothy would be happy!)
(Nice looking shoes, but not the most comfortable.....)
I honestly wouldn't know how these shoes are because though I ordered them the company sent them to the wrong address and then refused to give me my shipping money back even though the shoes were returned to them. I emailed them several times and got no response until I left bad feedback weeks later. If there was a zero star option that's what they'd be getting.
I ordered these to wear to a Red Hatters event -- I am only 27 so as a princess, I wear pink and lavender instead of the 50+ who wear the red and purple. They are Perfect for what I want them for; way too cute!! Being in only whole sizes, if you run on the larger end of a whole size, go to the next size. I usually wear 8 or 8 1/2 so the 9 fits great. Not the most comfortable shoes, but when you're looking for something this cute, who cares!!!

Overall Happy with their assistance. They had to send me another size shoe since the ones sent were much smaller than what they said. They sent me another pair which were not what I expected and they sent me another brand new pair that are absolutely beautiful and sent me a return label which I appreciated. They were very helpful, even during their busy season. Made my Halloween costume a success!
I bought the plain black mary janes and they match everything, but are real feet-killers. The heel height is perfect, not too tall, but enough to give you some height. Don't plan to do a lot of walking in these, though, unless you have a supply of band-aids ready.

(Great Game!)
(Never Even Got To Play This Game!!!!!!)
I had played the first Singles and liked it and the second one lived up to the first and more. Easier to play and more items. I got the game in two days and was very pleased. Thanks for making this a nice experience.
This was an alright game, didnt like it as much as the first one, but still is fun to play once you accomplish the story :)
This was agreat game!

(AWESOME!)
(Very adicting and fun.)
(Good Game, Quite the Novelty!)
(feel like hugh)
(The Sims Gone Wild)
I am so hooked on this game!!
For this i would prefer sites like eroticpcgames.com
I thought it was boring and stupid. It's "The Sims Uncensored" basically.
Playboy: The Mansion combines social simulation with role-playing and empire-building. You'll develop the Playboy mansion, build the brand and start anempire based on the idea of sexual liberation. But fame and fortune don't come easy - manage your staff, count your money and build the right celebrity contacts to help you get ahead. As you play, you'll be rewarded by getting to experience the glories of the Playboy Mansion!

(The Sims + Boobs = Playboy The Mansion)
(Interesting...)
(Cool But boring)
(Huge replay value...)
(Addictive.......)
I need to start this review with a disclaimer: I tried this game because I respect Hugh Hefner as an entrepreneur and liked the idea of building a publishing empire.
Playboy: The Mansion combines social simulation with role-playing and empire-building. You'll develop the Playboy mansion, build the brand andstart an empire based on the idea of sexual liberation. But fame and fortune don't come easy - manage your staff, count your money and build the right celebrity contacts to help you get ahead. As you play, you'll be rewarded by getting to experience the glories of the Playboy Mansion!

(not as boring as some say)
(Fun game but what the hell are they saying in it?)
(Snore...)
(Misleading System Requirements)
This game is very addictive. It took me about 15 minutes to figure it out, but after I did I couldn't tear myself away. You can transition between adding on to the mansion and making magazines. SO when you're bored of one, just start doing the other. Plus, there's hot avatars and faux sex. Gotta love it!
i had this game for ps2 and really liked it. it can get a little bit boring but it is still fun. Where else can you play as hugh hefner?
Do Not Be Mislead By The System Requirements Needed By This Game, You Need The Following To Play It:
CPU - 1Ghz Or Better
Memory - 256Mb Or More
3D Video Card - 32MB Or More Memory
DirectX - Version 9.0b

(James Bond Cards)
These are good quality cards and the images are vibrant.

(James Bond Set # 2)
Since I have rated all three of these James Bond Card sets you can see my review of the cards in general on the page for Collection # 1 for films 1-10...Basically it comes down to this you should not buy this set unless you plan on buying the first one to go with it, personally I think they should sell it as a two pack, but hey if they did that they would only be able to hit you for shipping and handling once, right. So unless you think Timothy Dalton was the best Bond, or you don't know anything about Bond and are buying this as a gift for a Bond fan, do not buy this one without buying the first set with the Sean Connery movies.

SCHOOL GIRL-50, WOMEN'S 2" PLAIN MARYJANE SHOES, WHITE PATEAT, SIZE 12, WAS NEVER RECIVED. HOWEVER WE WERE SENT THE WRONG ITEM AND RETURND THEM PRIOTY POST.
WE HAVE CHANGED YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS 1028 So SILVERVALE ST. VISALIA CALIF,93277

(Bunny Tales Book)
(Some interesting insights, but not worth the cover price overall)
(Don't waste your money)
(Waste)
(bounced all around)
Interesting if you have ever been to one of the Mansions Parties or if you ever watch "The girls next door" you gotta read this. Lets say "there is always two sides to a story"
Nice book
I got this from a friend, and because it was free I didn't feel like I had to get my money's worth out of it.

(Spectacular!!! Worth the money for sure!)
(Playboy - The Complete Centerfolds)
(DON'T BUY IT AT THIS PRICE!)
(An Interesting Record of American History)
(Best of the Best)
This item is spectacular in every way. This book comes in a leather case that, by itself is truly amazing. As expensive as this item is, it is really worth every penny.
DOWNSIDE
This item is huge and weighs almost 40 pounds so Amazon charges like $12 in shipping costs.
(True, I do think his epic life-story would have a fabulous ending if he now married a woman close to his age, and made a proclamation of some sort advancing romantic ideals, to work in conjunction with his previous accomplishments relating to sexual idealism.)
I mention the man who is the publisher of this book because I thought of him and his decades of accomplishment as I flipped through each and every page of this vast tome.
(I guess I'll just have to flip through this thing again soon and re-locate her.)
All told, this book is perhaps the best single summary of an incredible publishing legacy.

(Sanitized Sin)
(Entertaining, colorful, and detailed)
(Second to what?)
(The Bookschlepper Recommends)
(Truth IS Stranger than Fiction!)
Karen Abbott's great-aunt disappeared, family lore goes, into "White Slavery" in Chicago.
(Pronounced Ever-Lay - as in Frito - which, the reader is told, is the etymology of the phrase "to get ...")
The reader is also told of a nascent New Yorker, Alphonse Capone, not yet emigrated to the Second City to begin that chapter of Chicago, which, were Abbott to write it, would be populated by nice young gentlemen riding around in cars with booze.
The female victims of SitSS are mostly nameless, faceless "harlots" having the hapless misfortune of encountering "pimps" and "panders." By book's end, this befuddled reader has yet to be able to tell those "p" guys apart.
/TundraVision, Amazon Reviewer
In 1900 Ada and Minna Everleigh, two outwardly respectable sisters from The Olde South, opened the grandest whorehouse in America, Chicago's fabled Everleigh Club.
[Review based on an early QPC edition.]
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Praise forSin in the Second City:
“Assiduously researched… [Sin in the Second City] describes a popular culture awash in wild tales of sexual abuse, crusading reformers claiming God on their side, and deep suspicion of the threat posed by“foreigners” to the nation’s Christian values.”
——Janet Maslin,The New York Times
“Lavish in her details, nicely detached in her point of view, [and with] scrupulous concern for historical accuracy, Ms. Abbott has written an immensely readable book.Sin in the Second Cityoffers much in the way of reflection for those interested in the unending puzzle that goes by the name of human nature."—The Wall Street Journal
"Abbott's first book is meticulously researched and entertaining... a colorful history of old Chicago that reads like a novel."
——The Atlanta Journal Constitution
“With gleaming prose and authoritative knowledge Abbott elucidates one of the most colorful periods in American history, and the result reads like the very best fiction. Sex, opulence, murder— What's not to love?”
—— Sara Gruen, author ofWater for Elephants
“A detailed and intimate portrait of the Ritz of brothels, the famed Everleigh Club of turn-of-the-century Chicago. Sisters Minna and Ada attracted the elites of the world to such glamorous chambers as the Room of 1,000 Mirrors, complete with a reflective floor. And isn’t Minna’s advice to her resident prostitutes worthy advice for us all:“Give, but give interestingly and with mystery.”’
—— Erik Larson, author ofThe Devil in the White City
“Karen Abbott has combined bodice-ripping salaciousness with top-notch scholarship to produce a work more vivid than a Hollywood movie.”
—— Melissa Fay Greene, author ofThere is No Me Without You
“Sin in the Second City is a masterful history lesson, a harrowing biography, and - best of all - a superfun read. The Everleigh story closely follows the turns of American history like a little sister. I can't recommend this book loudly enough.”
—— Darin Strauss, author ofChang and Eng
“This is a story of debauchery and corruption, but it is also a story of sisterhood, and unerring devotion. Meticulously researched, and beautifully crafted,Sin in the Second Cityis an utterly captivating piece of history.”
—— Julian Rubinstein, author ofBallad of the Whiskey Robber

customer 's review (Godzilla vs. Megaguirus) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (3rd worst godzilla movie i've ever seen.) ![]() ![]() (An excellent addition to the Godzilla series) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Oh my! This is one terrible Godzilla movie!) ![]() ![]() (The real stuff..) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It is an enjoyable movie for the whole family. The creature was imaginative. Godzilla is awesome and is the hero. I'm going to change the format of my reviews a bit from now on. I'll begin with listing the pros. PROS: .Godzilla looks better than he's ever looked before. .The acting is pretty good. .The evil monster looks OKAY... I guess. .The ending battle is pretty awesome. CONS: .You can totally see the strings that Megaguirus is hanging from. .Megaguirus doesn't even show up until the movie is almost over. .Who the heck is the main character!!? There's a little boy, an army chick,an army chick's friend, and an old lady who used to be in G-force. The all show up and go away at different times. It's stupid! .There's not enough action, it's mostly talking. .I may be spoiling the movie for some, but I wouldn't reccomend you watch it anyway. "ahem" GODZILLA DIES IN THE END!!! There, I said it. Anyway, my point is this movie is awful and I don't reccomend it. It's the 3rd worst godzilla movie there is. The worst is Gidrah the 3 headed monster, and the 2nd is Godzilla against Mechagodzilla. (aka. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 4.) I love Godzilla films, but when I saw that this one was made as recently as 2000 I wondered if it would still have the classic Godzilla feel, which it most definitely does. It has all the makings of a great monster movie: bad special effects, unrealistic human technology, corny subplots, an impressive rival for Godzilla. It's great. I love Godzilla, but Godzilla vs. Megaguirus is the 3rd worst Godzilla movie that I have seen so far. The worst was Godzilla Final Wars. The second worst was Terror of Mechagodzilla. There are movies that are bad that they actually end up being very entertaining. This one is just bad. The effects in this movie are God awful. These are not the fun kind of cheesy effects like the older Godzilla films. These are the very, very poorly done computerized effects. And...... THERE ARE VERY, VERY OBVIOUS STRINGS HOLDING UP MEGAGUIRUS! And lots of them too! They don't even try to cover these up in any way. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. The pace of the movie keeps it uninteresting. It just comes across as a very average Godzilla movie. Nothing special or really interesting at all. And the plot...I know you have to suspend belief in reality when watching a Godzilla movie, but this black hole thing was just ludicrous. Even the enemies are terrible in this. Just a bunch of dragon flies and a big dragon fly (that's held up by soooooo very obvious strings!) I wouldn't want to watch it again. There are much better Godzilla movies out there. This is a great movie,,, especially after viewing Godzilla final wars in which it was a letdown. Godzilla: Vs. Megaguirus has the true feeling of a Godzilla movie...a good script....good monsters and hey...a bit of CGI in which it added quality to the movie. This is a movie that you will want to watch again... This second film in the unofficial "Godzilla Millennium" series (which followed its return to features inGodzilla 2000) occasionally suffers from dodgy special effects, but the giant lizard puts on enough of a show to please his longtime fans. The premise involves a special anti-Godzilla team's efforts to rid Japan of the atomic menace by means of Dimension Tide, a satellite device that would create an artificial black hole in which to trap the monster. A failed attempt, however, mutates a common dragonfly into a horde of giant prehistoric bugs that evolve into the colossal Megaguirus; the pair naturally face off in a city-wrecking battle while the team works against the clock to repair Dimension Tide and hold Godzilla captive forever. Though his special effects team occasionally lets him down with some shoddy creations (especially the pre-Megaguirus dragonfly swarm), director Maasaki Tezuka (who has since helmed the majority of subsequent Godzilla films) delivers a fun and action-packed feature with an exciting final showdown that should please G-fans. Columbia-Tri-Star's DVD is widescreen and offers a welcome Japanese language track (with English subtitles) for those opposed to dubbing as well as Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. A brace of trailers for other Sony-related sci-fi titles is also included.--Paul Gaita Godzilla is back! This time, Japan has a new weapon: Megaguirus! Now a 3-way battle begins between Godzilla, Megaguirus and the humans beings! Will Godzilla win? Will humanity survive?
